Bio:
Vanessa Ballesteros is an artist based out of Tucson, Az. She works primarily in watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. High contrast, bold color, and female figures play prominent roles in her work.
Statement:
I create art in order to capture the emotions I see and feel. The medium of watercolor is often unpredictable, which emboldens my search in the unknown. Folk tales, female anatomy, and animals are often my subjects. It is my endeavor to continue to invent mythological images as a means to express the drama of life. Hopefully, my work represents a moment I caught and the image evokes something too hard to say in words. I believe what makes my work unique is that in a medium that is often used for washed out colors or floral artwork, I have created saturated, contrasted, and evocative paintings.
