Artist Statement: Life isn’t pretty, life isn’t clean, and it isn’t always good. Where there is truth, there is deceit. Where there is beauty, there is disgust. Where there is normal, there is the abnormal. This darkness, this weirdness that people fear or avert their eyes to, that’s what captures my interest and imagination. Images of slithering tendrils, faces frozen with fear or pain, and creatures from the darkest corners of existence are what inhabit my works. The message I’m trying to convey or the story I’m trying to tell differs from piece to piece but it always has something to do with the darkness of human nature, of this reality we’ve created, and the conflict and turmoil every person goes through.
