Matt’s work has been featured in publications including Southwest Art and Plein Air magazines. Matt was a featured artist and faculty member of the 2016 Plein Air Convention in Tucson. He is represented by Amery Bohling Fine Art in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I seek to achieve a greater understanding of the southwestern landscape that surrounds me. As an avid hiker, I desire to convey our geology from vantage points that many Arizonans overlook. Rather than simply portraying a landscape, I strive to paint the experience of being outdoors. By referencing work that I have created outside, I produce paintings in the studio that have a lighter, more atmospheric feel to them. It is with this painting process that I hope to share my outdoors experience with others.
